# About Me
Hey, my name is Ron and I love making software.
In 2020, during the pandemic and my last year of high school, I started wondering what I wanted to do with my life. So, I took a practical approach and began researching and learning about many things, like marketing, industrial design, 3D printing, and more. Then I discovered coding.
At first, I started learning Python by following the book Automate the Boring Stuff with Python. It was challenging at first, but I got the hang of it. Eventually, I reached the point where I could create useful things for my daily life.
The moment I created my first useful program is one I’ll never forget.
It was a simple script that extracted highlighted text from Word documents into specific formats.
You might ask why that is useful.
Well, it helped me complete 90% of the school assignments I had that year, as most of them involved summarizing or extracting text and answers from source material.
That was the moment it hit me.
I wanted to be a software developer. I wanted to learn to code better, to do bigger and better things. And I would love every single moment of it.
After that, I never really stopped. I kept making fun little scripts that solved specific problems I had.
I started being allergic to doing boring manual tasks, always wanting to automate them. Even if automating took three times as long, it was still worth it because it was fun.
That’s the joy of programming for me, and that’s why I want to keep going.
